APPLICATION OF PROBLEM BASED LEARNING STRATEGY IN PRODUCTION ECONOMICS SUBJECT TO IMPROVE STUDENTS’ LEARNING MOTIVATION

Abstract

Improving the quality of learning and strengthening student motivation are important responsibilities of educators in the educational process. One of the efforts that can be implemented to achieve these goals is through the application of innovative learning methods that actively involve students in the learning process. Problem Based Learning (PBL) is considered an effective approach because it encourages students to think critically, solve real-life problems, and develop collaborative learning skills. The purpose of this study is to analyze the implementation of the Problem Based Learning method in the subject of Production Economics to increase students’ interest and motivation in learning. In the implementation process, teachers are required to design systematic and structured learning activities. Several important aspects in this learning innovation include: (1) developing well-planned teaching modules based on clear learning objectives, (2) utilizing technological media such as projectors or digital learning platforms to support instructional activities, (3) preparing attractive learning materials such as PowerPoint presentations, Canva-based visual media, and student worksheets (LKPD), (4) designing comprehensive assessments including observation, formative, and summative evaluation, and (5) conducting reflective evaluation after each learning session to improve teaching effectiveness. The results of the implementation show that the use of the Problem Based Learning method can increase student participation, curiosity, and engagement in the learning process. Therefore, educators are expected to continuously develop innovative teaching strategies in order to create meaningful learning experiences and support students’ cognitive, social, and skill development.
