THE EFFECTIVENESS OF PROBLEM BASED LEARNING METHOD IN TEACHING PRODUCTION ECONOMICS TO ENHANCE STUDENTS’ LEARNING INTEREST

Abstract

Learning interest is one of the important factors that influences students’ success in the educational process. Teachers are required to apply learning strategies that are able to actively involve students and encourage them to participate in classroom activities. One of the innovative approaches that can be applied is the Problem Based Learning (PBL) method. This learning method emphasizes student-centered learning through problem-solving activities that are related to real-life situations. The purpose of this study is to examine the effectiveness of the Problem Based Learning method in the subject of Production Economics to increase students’ learning interest and participation. In the learning process, teachers design structured and interactive learning activities that encourage students to analyze problems, discuss solutions collaboratively, and present the results of their discussions. The implementation of this method also involves the use of learning media such as digital presentations, visual learning materials, and student worksheets to support understanding of the subject matter. In addition, teachers conduct various forms of assessment including observation, formative assessment, and summative evaluation to measure student learning progress. The application of the Problem Based Learning method shows positive results in improving students’ curiosity, critical thinking skills, and engagement in the learning process. Therefore, teachers are encouraged to continuously develop innovative and student-centered learning strategies in order to improve the quality of education and create meaningful learning experiences for students.
